How to get my son out of the house?
I have given my son an ultimatum as of today, he has two weeks to either get into school or get a job. He is 22 years old and of course he says it's all my fault. He lies and steals from me. That did stop, the stealing did because I will call the police next time he does it. My question is what happens if two week pass and he still hasn't done anything? How do I get him out? I really don't want to involve the police in the matter.
My idea is to change the locks on the house whenever he is not around and put his things outside.
I have been dealing with this problems since he was 14. He is verbally abusive but it's gotten to the point where I don't care anymore.

Try putting a tent up in the backyard when u change the locks... tell him he can come back in the house when he gets back to school... that way he still has the comfort of not having to leave home.he can wash under the hose and eat from tins till then!

This is not correct advice, please understand you have to follow the law of your area.

Without knowing your state ( or even country) it is hard to be exact, but you have to legally evict him. You have to give them written notice ( not just tell them) and the average and normal time is 30 days notice. So you give them a eviction notice of 30 days, and then at the end of 30 days, if he is not gone, you go to court and file for an eviction.

I just think given 30 days notice to leave he's got a whole month to trash the house before he goes! Sounds like the sort of kid that would!

If he gets out of control , abusive or destructive during that 30 days after you have him legally served... you call the police and let them deal with it.

Family member or not... nobody should have to sit back and let someone abuse them. But the law is the law. There are legal remedies to the situation.

And you change the locks and they sue you for unlawful eviction and you write them a large settlement check. Please understand we pride ourselves here for real and proper legal advice, most of our legal experts are attorneys, or real estate agents or police or federal agents or insurance agents and more who give legal advice in their areas. In fact if they change the locks he can call police to force them to allow him back into the house, or even just find a way in since he is still a legal resident there.
