    Tax filing along with ITIN apply
    Hi,

    Iam on H1B visa and my visa on H4 visa and I want to apply ITIN number for her. When I file the return I need to apply W7 and wait till ITIN comes and then I need to file TAX return.Iam claiming her as my dependent.
    1. If I apply today and if it takes more time than April 15 , do I get penalty assume I have return instead of I owe ?
    Do I need to wait till I got ITIN then only I can file the claim ?

    1. You attach W-7 with your tax return and mail to ITIN processing center.
    2. Wife is never a dependent. You can file joint return as residents.
