Plumbing basement laundry DWV (with drawings!)
I am planning to add a laundry room to our basement. Obviously, I need a washing machine. I'd also like to have a utility sink, but it's not a necessity. I plan to make use of an existing 4" DWV vertical main passing through the basement floor nearby and a 2" vent line passing overhead.
I've got a plan for simply putting in the washing machine. All the blue stuff would be new. You can see that the 4" main already has a wye that provides a cleanout. I'd be breaking into the main below the existing wye and adding another. It's a good 10' horizontal run to the washing machine, so I added a tee to send up a vent. My biggest concerns with this plan are: 1) the two wyes stacked on top of each other (should there be some separation between them?) and 2) do I need to provide a cleanout at the end of the horizontal run?

In a perfect world, I'd like to have a utility sink to the left of the washing machine. The plan below attempts to accommodate that. Again, all the blue stuff would be new. I've got additional concerns about this layout: 1) Is the sink stubout too high at 20.5", 2) Can I use a horizontal tee in my horizontal drain line for the sink stubout (to get it closer to the floor)? 3) since the sink drain is lower than the washer drain, will I have problems with the washer discharging into the sink? and 4) Is the washer drain legitimate anymore (or have I introduced one of those unwanted S-traps I've been reading about)?
