The problems is I have 4 bolts that come through the base. The front bolts measure 15" and the bolts closest to the wall measure 11" any suggestions?

Sounds like you are smack dab in between a 10 and 12 (are you by chance measuring from a baseboard trim or from the actuall wall?). Sometimes a 12" toilet will fit with onliy eleven inches, but some just wont. To be on the safe side, I would get 10" rough toilet, or at the very least, if you want to try a twelve, make sure they are okay with dry fitting it (no wax to see if it fits) and returning it if it doesn't work.

Are you talking about bolts holding the flange to the floor? If not I have never seen a toilet held to the floor with more than 2 bolts.

That's because you are not old enough Bob. There was a day when toilets had four bolts. Two in the front which bolted to the flange and two in the rear which used hanger bolts (wood screw thread on one end and machine thread on the other) to bolt the toilet to the floor.

Delo1, if that's what you have the measurement would be from the two front bolt holes.

Back when, many toilets were four bolts. The two bolts closest to the wall were in the closet flange and the front bolts were 1/4 threaded wood screws into floor. A 12" rough toilet should work if center of toilet waste is 11" from finish wall, the tank would just be 1" closer to finish wall. I would try a dry fit first just to make sure.

Does anyone know of any makes or models of 12" rough in toilets that measure 11" when dry fit ?
