    First, expand the brackets:

    -6p*7=6p-9+40-16p

    Then simplify

    -42p=-10p+31

    Plus 10p to each side to get the 31 on its own

    -32p=31

    Divide both sides by -32 to get p by its own.

    p=31/32

    -6p + 7= 3(2p - 3) -4(-10 + 4p)
    -6p+7=6p-9+40-16p
    now put all the numbers on one side and the numbers with P on other side
    -6p-6p+16p=-7-9+40
    4p=+24
    p=24/4
    p=6
