Hello I am starting a new job on Monday and would like to do some research to be able to impress my new boss. Is there any material or websites I can find to pretty much learn not just the basics but some info that will bring me up to speed with the industry, things like start to finish, specs, material options, limitations of materials, etc. Also am looking into septic systems info as well. Thank you very much.

The subject is so broad that I highly recommend that you not try to learn so much in a few days. Instead, impress your boss with a willingness and ability to learn quickly.

Get a basic plumbing book from the library or local bookstore so that you can learn some terms and fundamentals - and go from there.

I presume that the guy who hired you already knows that you are new to the field, so he will be impressed that you did some research and reading before starting on the job.

Boy yeah, Rick gave you some real good advice there, Benjamin!

My opinion, you will be better off showing up with some basic handtools (water pump pliers, a tape measure, a torpedo level, etc.) and a super positive attitude like you seem to have and the boss will be happy enough with that, I promise.

I've probably hired 60-70 men over the years and many of them were helpers/beginners. Trust us when we tell you to just relax, bring basic tools and be awake and eager to learn!

Most important, Benjamin, is to just LISTEN to your new boss... he will let you know what he needs you to do to make him happy, OK?
