    Help, please.
I'm 16. When I was 12 I got my period for 11 days. That was the first time I got it and I never got it again. When I was 15, I got it for the second time. Since then, I get it normally every month and never miss a beat. It's completely normal, symptoms and everything. What happened, like why was it for 11 days and why did it stop for 3 years? And am I okay? I wanted to ask on here before bringing it to a larger attention.

Everyone starts differently but since it is normal now, should be nothing to worry about.
Remember periods are not like calendars, and you can not set a clock to them, some times they are a few days early, sometimes a few days late. Sometimes last a few days longer and so on, You will find over time what is YOUR normal.

But of course women should be seeing their GYN on a regular basic and it never hurts to be checked. Something you should be talking to your MOM or your other adult women in your life.

    Hi Kelsey,

It can be very normal for periods to be irregular when they first start. Some teens will have irregular periods for a few years. As Fr_Chuck said, since they are regular now, it should be fine.

If you find that after having regular periods for awhile they become irregular again, and you miss a few in a row, then you might want to check with your doctor.
