I have a leak in my shower in the basement I narrowed it down to were the drain meets the lip I have no acceces to the bottom it is a fiberglass base I used a wing rite drain and used silicnone it worked for 2 months then leaked again. I then tried a rubber seal it also leaked. Finally I used plumbers putty it worked for about 6 months then leaked!! I am trying to avoid tearing everything out I can fill the base with water and put a test ball in the pipe it does not leak but when I walk on the base it breaks the seal and leaks there is some give in the shower pan when walked on any solutions?? Most of the problems with leaks on a fiberglass shower are associated with the flexing of the bottom of the shower. When I install a fiberglass shower I cut a 6 inch hole in the floor for the drain and set the shower in a mortar mix to support the shower floor. To stop the flexing of the shower you are going to have to support the shower floor with something that will not give. The foam stuff will not work. On service calls I have done with this problem I have repaired or replaced the drain connection at the shower and stuffed mortar mix all around the base of the shower as far as my stick would push it back. This is very messy so use a drop cloth. Then stay out of the shower for as long as it takes to dry, at least 12 hours.
