My son was born with my last name and when he was 1 I married his father and changed his last name and my marriage was ended due to abuse to my son and myself 7 months later, my ex signed over full sole legal and physical custody a month after we left and has supervised visitation at my house yet he doesn't have anything to do with my son he just sits there and watches him and doesn't care to interact. My almost 6 year old wants to change his name back to my maiden name (his birth name)... What can I do to get this done? Since his father signed his rights over can I do this alone without him?
