Came to us in b1 and h1 with spouse/kid on b2 and h4
    Hi,

I came to US in January for Business purpose on B1 visa (and wife and kid on B2) stayed for 180 days, and left US in July and returned US on Sep on H1B and wife and kid on H4. Can I claim my kid for Child Tax Credit.

You can file joint return as residents and claim child tax credit. You must report worldwide income for the year. If you paid taxes in the foreign country, you will claim credit for taxes paid in the foreign country by filing Form 1116 or can file form 2555 Foreign Earned Income Exclusion.

Another filing requirement is Form TD F 90-22.1 and/or 8938 Specified foreign financial assets (SFFA). Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Citizen or Resident with Foreign Income
