    Compaq presario recovery
I made some recovery discs, when I load them up, it comes up to a window that asks to restart or shutdown. I restart the computer and all I get is a black screen with the cursor in the upper left hand corner. I have tried every key on the keyboard and nothing happens. What should I try to do?

Recovery Disks are supposed to be self-booting. Put the disks in the drive and turn on the computer.

You might have to press F10 or F2 or something to get into the BIOS and make sure the BOOT ORDER includes an option to boot from the CD.

If this doesn't work, have someone check your recovery disks or make a second set to try again. Can you list here where you made the recovery disks from?
