    Pump does not cut in
    Hi,
I have a water pump fed from a 4000L tank. The pump pumps water into the house for toilets and laundry use only and one outside hose.
The tank is filled with dam water that is settled with aluminium sulphite.

I have been living in the house for 3 years and never had an issue with the pump, other than leaks.

Last week the pressure tank on the pump was leaking because it had finally rusted out.

I replaced the tank and the T fitting it screws into, now all the leaks are gone but I have a new problem that has me perplexed. The air pressure on the old tank was set to 180Kpa and I have set the new one the same.

Sometimes the pump does not cut in at all at low pressure. Yesterday morning I went to use the washing machine and the pump not cut in at low pressure.

I activated the pressure switch manual lever a few times and tested the pump with the outside hose a few times and it came good, don't why it came good? It ran fine for the rest of the day.

Next morning the same thing happened, I just activated the pressure switch by the manual lever a few times and it came good again. Why?

The pressure switch if of SquareD Pumptrol, type FYG2, 30/50

    Can anyone offer ideas.

    Regards

    Rob

Perhaps the flowswitch is not working as it should.

    Hi Rob,
Check the small tube coming from the pump to the control box. If it's blocked this would give you the symptoms that you have. Like Doug, I would check the control box first. Also is this a galvanized pressure tank or a bladder tank? How many PSI are 180 Kpa? Regards, Tom,
