    Laptop screen looks fuzzy
My laptop screen goes all fuzzy and pink after waking it from hibernation this morning; it was fine before that. But after switching it on this morning, there was some vibrating sound, and the screen goes fuzzy. My anti-virus programme alerted me to malware threats but came up clean after I ran a full scan. System restore does not work, even from safe mode. But when I took a screenshot of my laptop and sent it to my friend, it looks fine. Even when I share screen with her through skype, she says it looks fine. Is this a hardware problem or a virus-related problem? How can I fix it?

Daily reboots are preferable to hibernation. Reboot run your system updates and check the laptop and video card's manufacturer for driver updates. Do you notice the screen problems in safe mode?

Yes, the screen problems persists in safe mode, like the colours won't display properly. I think the problem might be due to a broken ribbon in the LCD, as some people have told me if the screenshot looks fine to my friend, there's nothing wrong with the graphics card. But then why does system restore keep failing to work as well? It keeps giving me "system restore failed to extract the original copy of the directory from the restore point". Can hardware failure cause this? I am unable to undo my restore point (which I immediately did when the screen started going fuzzy). Is there anyway to still try a system restore and see if the LCD can be repaired? (assuming that it's a virus and not a broken ribbon that's causing the display to be distorted)
