How do I file my income taxes if I'm married not longer with my wife which she doesn't work she receives ssi disability

If you are married or considered married, your filing status can only be Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately. You can file joint return even when your spouse did not have any income.

If you are no longer with your wife, then ethically and legally you can only file Marruied Filing Separately and NOT claim her exemption.

You can only claim her exemption ONLY IF you KNOW she is not filing herself.
