We are remodeling our bathroom. We found that shower doors are several inches taller than they were 16 years ago. After a long search we finally found shower doors that were 68 inches tall with the oil rubbed bronze trim that we needed. But when my husband tried to install them yesterday he discovered that the doors are too wide and overlap too much when closed. We can certaily return the doors, but don't have any idea of where to look next since we have already searched the internet for a solution. Do you know of a way to cut the shower doors and trim to fit? Or should we just bite the bullet and order custom fit doors and pay the $800-$900?

A cheap solution would be to take either both doors or 1 door to a glazer and get the to cut and shape the new doors you have to the correct size, should be a cheap, quick and easy solution.

I suspect that the shower door are made of tempered glass. If so they cannot be cut. A good glass/mirror company can probably make sliding doors to fit. May or may not be cheaper than special order from shower enclosure manufacturer.

A good glazer will still be able to cut the tempered glass and round off the edges again, worth asking, got to be cheaper than getting something specially made.

Nope, tempered glass cannot be cut. Glass is cut and machined and then tempered. So said the glass company when they put the wrong handle on a shower door for me. The correct handle required holes to be drill through the glass.

Apparently, according to my local glazer, it can be cut but has to be cut with a laser cutter, which he had and would cost around £60 ($120)?
