I am wanting to run power out to power my front gate which is about 1000 feet from my panel box. What size wire do I need to run? Thanks, Pat

What are you powering?
1000 feet is a very long distance to deliver voltage, especially if it is 120 volts.
Assuming using aluminum wire, 10 amps at 120 volts, and using 5% as a maximum voltage drop:
1 conductor per phase utilizing a #2 Aluminum conductor will limit the voltage drop to 4.90% or less when supplying 10.0 amps for 1000 feet on a 120 volt system.
Does this senario fit your situation?
We need to know what vlotage you need, and the load in amps or wattage at the gate.
You may need to use 240 volts, and may need a 120 volt transformer at the gate, to reduce the wire size to a limit that will keep voltage drop 5% or less.
