It was about a group of explorers in antarctica, or some other snowy place. There was also a creepy notebook, and the explorers started dying. Oh, and one of the members was really creepy and destroyed their means of contacting civilization in case they ever wanted to end their trip.
I think it was a horror film. Psychological horror, maybe?

I watched it on TV while on vacation in China, so I'm not sure if anyone will know...

What you are describing reminds me of the movie «The thing» (old or new version) but I don't know if that's the right one... I mean it deals with explorers in Antastica and they start dying because of the alien «the thing» that kills them by taking the form of a human, so that explains the creepy guy you weere talking about... but like I said, I'm not entirely sure.
