I need to understand what prime means, I removed the blue tank and put water in using the house water source , some rusty water came out of the faucet , sounded like it wanted to pump the water, and the water stopped and turned of the breaker, should I have given it more time

Prim means filling the impeller cage from the small threaded hole on top of the housing. (You may have to remove a pressure gage to do this.)

If it tripped the breaker then there's a problem with the pump. Have it checked before you run it again. Good luck, Tom

Morwood, I think you are saying that YOU turned off the breaker when the water stopped. Was that the case?

To prime your pump, there will be either a threaded plug or a gauge on top of the impeller cage of your pump. Remove that plug and pour in water until it will hold no more. When it's full, stop and observe the level. It should stay full. If it does, then replace the plug and turn the breaker back on. Should be good.

If the water level did NOT stay full, then you have other problems. Let us know how it goes.
