I installed a Quickstep laminate floor 4 years ago. The laminate is bubbling in several places. Quickstep has a 20 year warranty, but has denied my claim. They say I used the wrong pad under the flooring. I used the pad that was recommneded by the retailer and in the Quickstep installation material. Whom do I sue. Do I file in the county I live or the county I purchased the material in. Quickstep will not provide me with a denial letter, do they need to? What can I ask for in damages, material and labor, court cost.

Sue 'em both in the county where the store is. Damages? The courts aren't a guessing game or a lottery. You must hire a professional floor dude, to (1) testify that it WAS the Quickstep laminate that is faulty, and (2) to give you an estimate for repair. You'll find out the court costs when you file.

You can do the work yourself, though.

Ok what I just did was I called the manufacture who made the laminate flooring and told them its installed wrong . Their interest really are if there is a defect in material. However; they sent over a third party who agreed the floor was installed wrong. So what I can see you doing in my opinion, is call the company who made the product. Then call the retailer who sold it to you. Unless they are one in the same. I was just offered 100% refund and Im messing with them I said I need more because I have to remove their crap.

If the product, in Wearelost's case, was installed wrong the manufacturer has no responsibility. If you paid some one to install it for you might have a chance of recourse but you must prove installation was faulty. If you did the installation yopurself you are all alone now. Bubbling laminate could be a sign of excessive moisture under the sub floor.
