It wasn't heating this morning. I turned the system switch off and on. Still didn't ignite. I got one flash, which the book said ignition failure. Tried some more turning the system switch on and off. Then I got three flashes. Igniter still didn't glow. Talked to my cousin who is a furnace guy and he said it was the igniter. I called and ordered the part, 49.00. So will see tomorrow. Does it sound like the igniter to you guys? Thanks, Tom

Pretty good chance it is the igniter, but they are easy to test. Just unplug it and check for continuity on the igniter. Let us know how things work out.

I replaced the igniter and turned power and gas back on. The small fan came on for a few minutes and then quit. Then it started flashing 3 flashes. Centrifugal switch stuck open. Is there any way to get some heat out of this thing today?

How can I get the centrifugal switch to close? It's flashing 3 times. I talked to someone at a furnace place. She said that there is a hole that gets plugged, but I can't find it.

If your switch is built into the draft inducer assembly, you may need a complete new assembly. How many wires go to the draft inducer assembly? If four, you are most likely looking at a new assembly. The switch basically proves that the inducer is giving enough combustion air. If the switch is faulty, a new inducer with switch it is. However, it may be a plugged vent or intake. Look at the cap on the roof and see if it is plugged in any way. On the newer models they used a pressure switch instead of a centrifugal switch. Much better settup in my opinion. With a pressure switch, you would have two hoses going to the draft assembly, and then you could check the ports and hoses for cloggs, but with the cent switch, you can't do this because there are no hoses or ports. Sounds like it may be time to call in a pro to look the system over and make certain it can't be easily fixed before spending more money on the wrong parts. Called him I today. The comb fan was OK. The circuit board is faulty. Thanks for the reply, Tom

Glad you got it worked out. Would have hurt to buy a new comb fan when the board was the real culprit. Only way to know for sure is to tester to equiptment. Good job, take care.

It ended up being the circuit board. Got about 300.00 in the whole thing. Got heat coming out of the vents, can't put a price tag on that with this cold snap coming. Thanks again, Tom
