Late period of 2 weeks but negative result
Hey everyone, I just have a few questions that I want to ask if anyone has got an answer canyou please message back. Well I have a late period of about 2 and a half weeks now. I took a HPT 5 days ago. I am going to take another one Sunday to see what that says as I have a few symptoms of pregnancy and still no period. My question is that if it is a negative again and I still don't come on, where would I be able to get a blood test and how much would it cost?I ask this because I have recently moved to america from england and I don't know how things work over here yet aand have not got a doctor yet.if anyone would be so kind to answer my questions that would be brilliant!thank you xxxxx:p

Hi ntashxxxx. You can get a blood test done at your local hospital. I took my blood test about a year ago, but I am pretty sure it was only about 11 dollars. They aren't much more expensive then an hpt and more accurate. You could get it done today even if you liked, or wait and take another hpt as you said(tho it would save money to just get a blood test prolly). If you get a doctor and get an exam done they can look for more defining signs of pregnancy as well, such as an enlarged uterus, and the blueish purple tint to the vagina that accompanies pregnancy. Also, a doctor could order a quantative blood test for you, which is the most accurate blood test. It is more expensive and takes more lab time then a regular blood test, so they usually won't do them for you unless doctor ordered. However this test will give you the exact amount of hcg in your system. The regular blood test is still more accurate then an hpt, but only gives a negative or possitive reading, so it is possible for them to be wrong as well. Good luck! Hope you get your answers soon!
