Ok I filed my income tax and the state has decided to audit me. I file single because me and my husband were separated for three years. We just recently got back together and one of the questions they want to know if I'm married? Am I going to be on some kind of trouble and what are they going to do if they realize he don't have a social?

For federal it may have been possible for you to file as single as long as you could be "considered unmarried" even though you were legally married at the time.
