Any time you have sex, "protected" or not, you can get pregnant. Nothing is foolproof. I believe the shot is given every three months. If you last got it in August you were "due" again in November. If you are going to skip shots you are not going to be protected.

Yes, HPTs can give false positive or false negatives. A Physician could tell you 100% if you are or or not pregnant.

If you've been having unprotected sex I would guess you're trying to get pregnant, so I don't know if this is good news or bad news.
