    Criminal record
How long does a felony stay on your record? I pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon in 2000 and been off parole since 2009. Do I still have to put that on a job app

If asked, yes, you were convicted of a felony.

    How long? Where?

    Hello M:

Your criminal record lasts forever. You can apply for it to be expunged, but probably not for a few more years.

Agree, it will show up on your record for ever, you can try ( not everyone that tries gets it done) but to have it expunged but as excon said, it is most likely going to be 3 if not 5 more years before it could happen.

Also even if expunged, it will show up to police and other national security searches.
