Women tend to get UTI's more often than men because the path to the bladder is shorter and the Urethra opening is closer to the anus than in men. Since infections are most often from bacteria that live in the bowel, good toilet hygiene, (wiping front to back), and care taken during intercourse are required. While you don't have to worry about infecting someone else, you should be refraining from sexual intercourse until you are healthy again. You do not want to irritate your Urethra.
Quote:
A UTI is an infection in the urinary tract. Infections are caused by microbes—organisms too small to be seen without a microscope—including fungi, viruses, and bacteria. Bacteria are the most common cause of UTIs.
