    Green card probation period?
A friend of mine has been married for 2 years. He and his family had a meeting with immigration. Immigration informed them they will be on a 2 year probation. He has tried to work out the marriage but it is not working. He fears he will get in trouble by getting a divorce now. I don't know enough to advise. Can you help?

If you get divorced and can prove up the bona fides of your marriage to the satisfaction of the USCIS officer, you can get your conditions removed. You will need documentary evidence and your own sworn testimony as to cohabitation and co-mingling of funds. It will be a concern that you are not living together. You may need to supplement your filing with affidavits of people that know of your marriage.

I recommend you consult with an experienced immigration attorney.
