The scene is a woman stuck in a row boat, no oars, unable to move. I think it was actually all in her mind, possibly due to mental illness trapping them. Ultimately someone grabs the rope line and "saves" her.

It was a psychological thriller, and this man was trying to reach a woman. I don't know if she was his wife or what. But in her mind she was adrift in a lake. And with the help of a shrink... or something like that, he would get in contact with her, trying to get her to want to come back to him.

Its possible you're looking for an episode of The X-Files, called 'One Breath' - I remember watching this when it first aired - one of the characters (Dana Scully) is 'trapped' as you say in a rowboat (she's in a coma) - I had a hard time trying to find the episode to watch, but someone made a video using scenes from the episode - (I just turned the volume down to focus on the scenes... hopefully its what you're looking for.. and, if it is, - no $ necessary, I think its fun to try and help people find what they're looking for!) It's a very nice scene, but that's not it. It was part of a movie and the boat scene recurred more than a few times. There was also a psychiatrist or doctor helping the man to reach out to her. I don't think it was from an injury, just a mental break.

SIGH... this is going to make me nuts.
