The circulator pump has gone bad on my central heating. Unfortunately, I do no have isolation valves installed below the circulator pump. I do have a valve above the pump on the supply line and a valve on the return line. Would it be OK to shot these valves and replace the pump without draining the entire system or do I need to actually drain the whole thing. If I do then is there a step-by-step guide on (a) draining the system and (b) refilling it back up without the risk of damaging the heating element? Thanks for your time.

The problem is that there are an inifite number of ways that boiler systems can be configured. There is no general guide for how to replace a pump.

You are probably well advised to find a skilled person to replace the pump for you and to get the boiler set up and working for you again.

I'd shop around for someone who will charge you by the hour to do that task for you, plus any materials used. If you have the same or similar pump, that might involve an hours work.
