My fiancŽ and I haven't had intercourse since December 4 2011, he has been over the road. I got my period ( or so I thought is was) just a few days later. It is now January 30 2012 and I sill haven't gotten it again. I took 3 HPT the first one had a very very thin light positive, and the other two were negative, I took them 3 days ago. I am worried because I am a smoker and if I am pregnant I need to quit, please help.

If you have sex just a day or two before your period, you can often have a period and still be pregnant. For some women, they may have a very light period for a couple days on the next period due date. ( there is not always just one way)

Are you using the first urine of the morning? So yes it is possible, and you need to try another test in the morning, come back and let us know.

As Fr said, take another test in the morning. If there is still doubt, call your doctor for a blood test and to be on the safe side, stop smoking now. Also, take prenatal vitamins if you're not using birth control. Prenatals help prevent neural tube defects - often so early that you wouldn't even know you were pregnant yet so its safest to have them in your system before you conceive.

With the first test I used the first mornings urine, that was the one that had the very very faint thin positive line. The next two were negative later that day.
