    Large cracks
Hi, I have moved into a 60-75 year old house, about a year ago, it was newly plastered and decorated due to a minor flood in the attic. After a few months cracks started to develop along the edge of the ceiling and up the side of the stairs top and bottmom of the wall, I wasn't to worried to start with because I expected it to be settling. Now the cracks have started to become a lot more pronounced and they are about 1 inch wide or more at some places. Also whilst it is quiet, night time predominatly, I can here a sound that is similar to heavy things collapsing inder great pressure, am I worrying about nothing? I can post pictures if it would help. Thanks

In a house that is 75 years old it should have been settled by now. Show us some pictures and maybe we can help.

Let us know if cracking is at a bearing wall or non bearing. Was the plastering a patch job or was whole wall done?

    Chuck
