Can anyone Expain what it means to list 3 to 5 sub-claims to support a thesis?

That simply means that you make a list of the points you plan on using to prove your thesis. For example:

    The world is round because:
    Objects disappear over the horizon
You can travel in one direction and end up where you started.

If this is being done prior to the writing, then a list like the above will be sufficient. If it's in the essay itself (many forms list the points in the introduction), you'll want to craft it as a sentence, using the same order for the points as will occur in the body of the essay.
