    Furnace will not always light.
I have a Frigidaire furnace 10 years old. When the thermostat clicks the fan will come on, after about 30 seconds there will be an orange glow in the burner compartment for about 2 seconds then a couple of clicks and instead of igniting it goes out and tries it all over again. I would like to fix this myself, any suggestions?

Usually the circuit board will turn on the hot surface ignitor for 20-30 seconds or so to get it white hot to light the gas. At that point the gas valve is turned on an the gas lights off the HSI.

I take it from your description that the main gas valve doesn't turn on ---is that right?

What color changes do you see on the HSI?

Odds are the circuit board is defective, but it could be a bad gas valve.

What is the make and model of the circuit board?
