Ok when I put my key in my car it make the dinging sound but when I turn the key the light for the odometer don't turn on. So my car is now stranded at walmart and I'm not sure what to do.

. Remove and fully charge the battery. Most auto parts stores will do this for free.

. Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

. Does the Check Engine Light come on for 2 seconds and then go out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)? Can you hear the fuel pump run during that 2 second interval?

. Check the ignition switch for wear or pitting, if none of the dash lights come on.

Does the starter motor crank the engine? What year, model, and engine do you have?

Thank you this helped a lot. When we checked all the fuses one of the fuse linkage things was blown. And the battery had died, but we couldn't tell it had died because of the fuse linkage.
