    F1 visa/cpt/1099 - m
Hi I am on a F1 Visa, I worked on CPT for 3 months in 2011 as an independent contractor and I got a 1099-Misc form
From my employer, I did not pay any taxes and none were withheld. There is only one entry in 1099-M form for box 7.
Am I supposed to pay any taxes even though I am a student. If so what taxes, and the amount. Will I get any refund? (box 7, my non employee compensation was 16,000$)

You will file nonresident tax return and Form 8843. The 1099-misc income is reported on schedule C or C-EZ. If you do not have any expenses related to your 1099-misc income, you may not do schedule C and report it as Other Income. You will not pay SE tax on your schedule C income.

"Will I get any refund?" Refund for what? No taxes were withheld.

For sure you have SOME expenses earning that Form 1099 income, so use Schedule C to report them and reduce your income and thus reduce your tax.
