I 'd like to know about the different types of traps and what they are used for?
There are many types of traps, some legal most are not. The most popular are "P" traps, other legal traps include bottle traps. Running traps, and integral "P" traps. They all perform only one function and that's to provide a water seal to prevent sewer gas from escaping into your home. Regards, Tom
There are p traps and s traps and bell traps and sand traps and grease traps and lint traps. A p trap is commonly used on plumbing fixtures. An s trap is still found but not legal. I don't remember what a bell trap did but I don't think it is legal anymore. A sand trap is a pit that separates sand before allowing the water to continue down the drain. A grease trap is a pit or box that separates grease before allowing the water to continue down the drain. A lint trap is a pit or box that filters lint from a commercial laundry before allowing the water to continue down the drain.
