My lease is up and I don't have the last months rent. What is going to happen?
I paid a lease for a year up front, and when it was over I asked to extend it a few months as my personal situation took a dramatic turn. The landlord agreed to extend me three months. My last months rent was due on 1/18/12. My fiancˇ bounced the check and I don't have the rent now. I have two small kids and want to know what I am looking at to happen.

It may depend on your landlord, have you talked to them yet?

Also it can depend on the location, each state in the US have different law.

In general, the landlord can give you a 3 day pay or quit, you have three days to pay the rent or they will start eviction. If not paid they will file in court to have you evicted from property.

The landlord can also sue you for the rent due plus any late fees, cost of bad check ( if you gave landlord a bad check) and other costs allowed in the lease.
