    Replacing Tub Drain
I am in the process of upgrading the fixtures in my bathroom. I will need to replace the tub drain and overflow plate to match the finish on the new fixtures. The specification sheet for the new tub drain says that it has threads which are: 1 1/2"-11 1/2NPSM.

Is this a standard size tub drain? Is this a replacement which I should be able to do myself or should I call a plumber?

    Thanks,

    Tom

It sounds right to me. I would advise purchasing a tub drain removal tool, (see image) to remove the old drain and install the new one. Don't forget to run a small rope of plumbers putty under the new drain lip. Regards, Tom
