I have had this breathing issue
I took Doxycylcine antibiotic about two years ago and it burnt my esophagus I thought I had all healed until about 4 weeks ago I started to have severe breathing issues. Went to ER and they ruled out lung or heart issues. They said severe Reflux. Well I went to a Lung Specialist and he said severe reflux and the meds I was taking over the counter wasn't working so he put me on Protonix 80mg a day once in the morning and once in the evening. He also said that the machines I breathed in when I got there showed him that I have a burn or something with my voice box. He thinks all that is causing this breathing issue. I am not so sure. I eat and within minutes I feel like my diaphragm is tightening up and it feels like something is putting pressure on my breathing. This is scary. I just had all my teeth out and had mercury poisoning from an old filling from when I was a child. They were thinking that was causing it. I was wondering if this sounds right to anyone or if you have any other suggestions. When this breathing issue is happening I am so weak and I feel like the pillows that I am propped up on are going through my back. Its not pain but pressure.

Severe reflux can indeed cause the issues you are experiencing. Protonix is good, but I take Nexium for my issues and have had complete relief.
