Identiying Wires on for Furnace on Thermostat
I have a Honeywell Thermosat, model RTH6300B, and I want to know which wires that I connect to the termostat are the wires for the furnace. In short, if I disconnect the thermostat to test the furnace by starting it directly, which ones are the furnace wires that I should connect. I also have central air conditioning. The wires that I have coming out of the wall are Green White, Yellow, and Red. The Red terminal on the thermostat has a metal jumper clip on it.

    Thanks for your help.

The red wire is hot from the transformer. Connect it to the white, and the heat should come on and stay on. There is a wealth of material on trouble shooting a heating system in the sticky at the top of the heating forum. Just click on the Heating link at the top of the page and then the sticky.
