Loan for furniture
The debt was for furniture in 1996 it is now 2012 the debt collectors bought the debt in 2004 and claim that their not going away. They call every morning between 8 to 10 a.m. It is now 7 years after any monies were put on debt and I didn't make that payment when will this harassment stop. They have taken a 3,000 initial debt to 16,000.00
Statute of limitations In Canada on an unsecured loan is 6 years generally speaking, varies from province to province. What province did this debt occur in?
For instance, BC is 6 years; Alberta 10 years
If you Google 'statute of limitations in Canada' you will come up with complete information instantly.
A debt never expires. The owner of the debt can continue to dun you until the debt is paid. However, the statute of limitations has passed so all they can do is dun you, they can't take you to court over the debt.
The next time they call, Get their mailing address. Then tell them that under Federal Law (assuming you are in the US) you are informing them that they should cease calling you and any future contact should be only by mail. Then follow that up with a letter to that effect.

OP is in Canada, don't know province, already asked. All post should be combined. Same advice applies for Canada.
