    Levied bank account
I hope I'm asking this in the right area, but I live in northern NJ and what has happened over the past couple of days is that, although I'm in a payment plan w/ a law firm, they levied my bank account w/out notifying me. Through many difficult phone calls, they told me that my last check had bounced, which it did not so I sent them my bank records to prove it. My only mistake that I made was that I forgot to send out a check for January (they said my bounced check happened in Dec.) but as soon as I remembered about January, I sent out a check. Currently, they are giving me the run-around and have left me with one cent in my account. They forgot to put me on hold while they checked for my email proving that I did not bounce the check and it sounded a little chaotic and the many people I have spoken to really have no clue as to what they're doing. They kept telling me to call my bank, but the number the law firm gave my bank is a non-working number. I'm still waiting for someone's call back from an hour ago. Is there anything that I can do right now to protect myself from their negligence?

    Thanks!

    Hello ks:

I don't think they were negligent. I just think they got their money. I also think, you think they should tell you the truth. In a perfect world, they should. In the real world, these are scum sucking bottom feeders. For you to expect honorable behavior out of them is, frankly, surprising.

Once a judgment has been awarded against you, THEY hold ALL the cards. They can come get their money from your accounts anytime they want to. And, they did. You have NO recourse. None.

Indeed, if I knew that somebody could waltz into my bank and take everything from me, I would make SURE that I remembered to send them their check. You didn't. Who then, Sir, is negligent? I think it might be you.

Well, thank you ExCon for making me feel worse than I already do. Forgetting to send the check, but then sending it out as soon as I remembered is one thing. The reason they placed a levy on my account is because they were negligent in saying I bounced a check when, if fact, I did not. At this point, I'm trying to resolve the issue, but not getting any answers, and that's all I'm looking for. They've given my bank a telephone number for me to call that doesn't work, they told me to call a constable yet they don't even know who the constable is and then I was called stupid. If I were someone who were trying to dupe them in some way, why would I be calling to see if the attorney is in the office yet every two hours, why would I want to rectify the situation?

I thought this was a forum where I could ask questions w/out being on by someone else on the site. All I'm looking for is solid advice to help my situation. Apparently, talking to anyone anywhere is of no help.
