I have a blocked artery on the right hand side of my heart. The doctors say that there is nothing they can do as any surgery will probably cause more problems than it will solve. I know I will eventually die from this, either next week or in ten years time. I am on plenty of drugs and am waiting to go back to the cardiac unit. I just wondered what anyone thinks of this and any advice.

Think I would want a second opinion. With that, what is your age, what are other health issuse if any. What percent blockage. Where is the blockage

What about a stent? My husband had a triple bypass and seven years later two stents. Cardiac treatments and surgery are amazing!

Yes, I agree with Fr_Chuck. Definitely get another opinion--not from a family practice doctor, but from a cardiologist.

Get another opinion.. my brother was born with a heart disease and is still a live after surgeries and medicine at the age of 38 god bless you and def get another opinion

thanks for all your replies. Unfortunately, because it is the right side, the cardiologist was the person whom told me that surgery was not an option. The main artery on the right side is blocked. I have had a stent x2, but these both have failed. I am going to the rapid cardiac unit soon, because the symptoms are gradually getting worse. But I have been told not to hope for too much, at this time.

I would never argue with a Doctor BUT my husband had his right artery stented without issue.

The new coated stents work wonders.

I have never heard that surgery was not an option or that no further attempts at stenting would be done.

When I first had a heart attack, in 2008, they stented the artery successfully. Unfortunately, in 2010, I had another attack. They tried to stent the artery again, but after about 2 hours they stopped the procedure, and as you probably know, stenting generally takes no longer than 45 minutes. The cardiologist told me, because we did discuss it, that surgery will cause more problems than it would solve. That's not to say that when I go back to the cardiac unit they won't at least try.

I would and did and "won" as to how my cancer was to be treated regarding the radiation and follow-up. My oncologist's and my discussion and conclusion have now become part of that hospital's female patients' treatment discussion. One has to be a well-researched and responsible advocate for one's own health. (And I know you agree with me, JKT.)

Oh yes! Second opinion and a third if necessary. Don't rest until you get all the facts about your condition, which sounds mild compared to some of my clients
