I noticed that the pipe coming out of the ground in back yard is full of water. When we run the washing machine, dishwasher, or flush a toilet, the water backs up, in either the toilet or the shower or tubs, where should I start looking for the blockage?

" the water backs up" backs up where, into the house or up this pipe? Septic or city sewer? If flushing a toilet backs into a tub then the main drain is likely clogged. This requires rodding so don't do any chenical drain cleaners please. Do you have a clean out on your main drain, anywhere?

The blockage is AFTER the pipe in the backyard (probably a cleanout the water is coming out of, right?), or if you have a septic tank the septic tank could be full.

Snake down the pipe sticking up, but if you have a septic tank don't go so far in with the snake that it ends up tangled in the septic... that would be a nightmare for you!

After the drain line is cleared be sure to cap that cleanout, OK?

The pipe has slots on the bottom of it preventing anything from being dropped into it, I took the shop vac out there and sucked all the water out of the pipe, but it looks like it has slowly filled again. We thought the drain line might be clogged with toilet paper, We put Rid X down the toilets once a month. The biggest problem I'm having is the back ups I keep getting in the tubs and shower stall. Would a chemical drain cleaner down the pipe in the yard break up a clog there?

No, so are you on a septic tank? Since you are using rid x.

It sounds like if the pipe in the yard is filling with water, there may be a block past it, or there is a septic problem. Please don't use chemicals, you can try to have someone clean out the sewer line to the septic first

I think it would be best to have a septic contractor come out and pump your tank and fully inspect the field, lines and tank. How old, how big and how many members in your family? A garbage disposal on a septic will only make things worse s hope you don't have/use one.
