    Online ob gyne?
    Hi!

My Husband and I started to try conceiving since after I had may last menstrual period for the month of December 2011. We did intercourse every other day until 1 week before my expected menstrual period. My menstrual cycle was suppose to start this January 19, 2012, but it didn't. But when I tested January 21 using a home prenancy test, the result was a negative. Then the next day, January 22, I saw red stain on my undies so we construed this as my monthly menstruation that came late (which, actually, doesn't really happen to me because I have always been regular and on time with my period). But then I got more confused when after I acknowledge that I have menstruation and started wearing pads for it, the flow seems to be stopping or slowing down. It's supposed to be my 3rd day of menstruation but I still do not have a heavy flow, which in my past menstruation happens starting on the second day of my menstruation. Question is, is it possible that I was pregnant and experiencing a vaginal bleeding? Should I take another urine pregnancy test? I am really confused and I don't know how to conduct myself...

Yes you may be, and yes I would retest.

With that said, you do realize some women may even have their fertile time, right before or after their period.

And actually having sex every other day may actually harm the chances of pregnancy.

Your most fertile time is not just in the middle of your period. It can be anytime, you will need to find and track your most fertile time and not your periods. You then not have sex for that week or so before and only on those couple of days right around the fertile time.

    Please talk to your doctor

I'm sorry Chuck, but having sex every other day is actually recommended as it gives the male time to increase his sperm count.
