Can a 16 year old be in a sexual relationship with a 21 year old in Washington?
I first met him when I was a freshman in high school, he was a super senior. It wasn't till a year later when we began to have a sexual relationship, I was 15 and he 20. That was a year ago; I am now 16 and he is 21. My parents do not agree with our relationship, as one could imagine, and constantly threat to file for a restraining order against. I want to make it clear that our relationship is not just abut sex. We really do have feelings for each other and would like to be able to continue seeing each other. Is there anything we can do?

    Washington -- Age of Consent

    Quote:

Washington enacted a law similar to Florida in which a person 16 or 17 may consent to
Sexual activity with a person not more than 59 months (4 years 11 months) older. (For example
It is illegal for a 21 year old to have sex with a 16 year old; it is illegal for a 22 year old to
Have sex with a 17 year old).
Do your parents know? Seems either his parents or yours can send him to jail for a year, and cause all kinds of other problems for you both.

Of course not it's illegal. That being said the 21 year old is actiung very immature.

Under the law having sex at 15 was illegal. The fact that you are now 16 doesn't change that.

But beyond the illegal sexual activity, your parents have control until you are 18. If he continues to defy them by dating you, he can be in serious trouble.
