There are some places that for 20 dollars will sell you a diploma, that says somehting,

But real online course will have a cost.

Next what type of theology, catholic, penticostal, methodist, baptist, everyone one has their own teachings and beleifs.

Our church offers a distant learning degree ( still on paper not online) and but ours deal with Catholic and Orthodox. But as with all, there are fees to cover at least min cost.

Actually, it is VERY possible. There are several theology degree programs on the Internet that are 100% free to the student. These programs are paid for by folks who donate to keep the programs running. I am enrolled in a VERY GOOD program which you can look at for yourself right here:

Free Bible Studies - Pillar of Truth Bible Institute

By the way, the Pillar of Truth Bachelor's degree program will require
about 2 to 4 years of dedicated study. It is not hard, but it is extremely thorough.

Volunteers grade your lessons, and you are allowed to submit up to
3 lessons per day. However, even at 3 lessons per day, it will take you a couple years to finish. So, get busy!
