My son has been taken by social services
I went to pick up my son from school on Friday to find the social services had been called and the police. They said I had to vol give up my son and that I had to wait for the police. They came and said they were going to take pics of my sons legs were the injuries were (he had brusies from football)and get in touch with me. I have heard nothing for 2 days about anything. I am very upset with it all. I was wondering if anyone knows my right and what I can do?

    Hello d:

You can hire a lawyer, and I wouldn't wait.

Well it's the weekend so you may have to wait until tmmw. Have you contacted his football coach to verify the injuries occurred while playing?

If you can't contact the caseworker tomorrow morning for a status update, then I would contact an attorney.

Many areas have laws that require a school to report unusual bruising or injuries. You do have a right to know who reported the injuries and why.

By the way, how old is your son?

You will hire an attorney, It is seldom they are called unless your child told them that you did it. But you will need to get witnesses of how the injury happened, and get an attorney.

If not you could very easily lose custody and be in jail.

I'm going to disagree with this part. Children often lie about how they got injured to protect their parents. So even if he denied he was abused, they would probably not take his word for it.

However, if he said he was injured during football, they should have called in the coach to confirm.

    Hello again, d:

We all HOPE that local authorities guard the rights of all the individuals involved. We HOPE that they follow up logical threads...

But, that doesn't always happen. The fact that he's been kept as long as he has means they THINK there's MORE to his injuries than you or he is saying, and they're going to be LOOKING for WHO did it. I'll bet they think it was YOU!

This is NOT a time to be operating on your own. I'd be on the phone FIRST thing Monday morning.
