    Proportion
    Hi,

I am having trouble with this proportion question. If you can solve it please send me the steps you used to do so… would be greatly appreciated. :)

You and your two friends, Jim and Susan have decided to open a business. You
Contribute $24 00 to the start-up, while Jim and Susan contribute $14 750 and $11
200 respectively. A few months later, due to bad economic conditions, the
Business needs an additional investment of $20 000 from the partners. How much
Money should each person contribute to maintain the investment in the original
    Ratio?

    Aurora2000
You contribute $2400, Jim $14750 and Susan $11200. The total is $2400+14750+11200=$32350.
Thus your ratio is 2400/32350, Jim 14750/32350, Susan 11200/32350.

When $20000 more are required, the total contribution will increase from $32350 to $32350+20000=$52350. Thus in order to keep the original proportion you will have $52350*2400/32350, thus you need to contribute $52350*2400/32350-2400 more. Similarly for Jim and Susan.
