    1995 GMC Sierra pick up
Thank you very much for the answers to my previous questions. Your answers solved the problem however I have a problem now with the transmission for this truck. The transmission does not change gears I replaced the transmission still had the same problem. I took the truck back to the tranmission place. They took down the 2nd transmission and checked it thoroghly and they said that there is nothing wrong with the transmission. They checked it mechanically and electrically. They think its something electrically wrong in the truck. I tried different computers for the truck and it still has the same problem. It will not change gears. I disconnected the electrical plugs from the transmission and the truck goes a little faster but still will not change gears. Do you have any suggestions?

. Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

    . Check for codes.

. Check/replace the Variable Speed Sensor (VSS) on the transmission. When not replaced, the truck may experience CEL/MIL illumination, high fuel consumption, loss of power and/or inaccurate transmission shift points. I've seen trucks unable to shift and barely able to hobble back to Texas from Arkansas with a failing VSS. It can trigger all sorts of codes, including ABS. Afterwards, be sure to clear the PCM of all codes.

. Ensure that the new transmission is an exact match to the original. The engine, transmission, wiring harness, and PCM are engineered as a unit. Everything must be compatible or it will never work properly.
