    Deducting old tuitions and getting medicare and ss back (opt)
    Hi Folks;

    I have 2 questions.
    1) Even though I am working with opt, I paid medicare and ss taxes. How can I get those back. (studied in Michigan and working in California for 4 months; in case procedure would change)
    2) I paid tuition 2004,2005 and 2006. I got a mail from university telling me that I can deduct my 2006 tuition. Is there anyway that I can also deduct my older tuitions.

    Thanks.

    1) File Form 843. See pages 42-48 in IRS Pub 519.

    2) You cannot claim the education credits or deduction if you were or are a non-resident alien.
